Jena

I have a lovely, beautiful two year-old daughter. We named her Jena, which in Arabic means the honey of heaven. She is very active and passionate. My husband says she is another me just without all the drama! The best part of my day is when I pick her up from daycare and she runs enthusiastically, screaming "mama...mama" and wants her hug!

My husband and I talk to her in both English and Arabic and as a consequence she is learning to be bilingual. Our friends that speak Arabic find it very funny sometimes because Jena will say words in Arabic with an American accent or English words with an Arabic flare.

Her favorite pass times are to read her books, dance, sing and play hide and seek. It is a wonderful thing to watch this non-verbal, non-mobile creature become an inteligent, running all-over-the-place, non-stopping little adult! We are truely blessed.

She's a darling, Tahani! It will be so good for her to grow up bilingual. I agree, getting that hug after preschool is wonderful. Lately Lochlan likes to take me all over his classroom and show me everything he's been doing. You've expressed very well the amazing gift it is to watch our children grow and become themselves.

You have a lovely daughter. It must be hard raising a child in a foreign country. Your families must miss you all so much. My parents used to live in France and two of my brothers were born there but they came back a when they were still young. So, they cannot speak french! However, it's wonderful that you child will be able to speak everything without problem. You've already saved IIEP tuition for her!! :)
